Penfolds Grange 2005 750ml
Deep crimson. Intensely fresh violet, blackberry, elderberry, liquorice, cedar, mocha aromas with herb garden notes. Plush, richly concentrated wine with blackberry, elderberry, herb flavours, firm chalky/velvety tannins and spicy, ginger, vanilla oak.
Varietal: 96 per cent shiraz, 4 per cent cabernet sauvignon
Vineyard/region: Barossa Valley (including substantial proportion of Kalimna Vineyard shiraz), McLaren Vale, Coonawarra
Vintage report: Regular rainfall fell through winter into early spring, establishing good soil moistures and dam levels. Mild conditions, followed by a dry, late summer and autumn led to optimum fruit ripeness. A good Penfolds growing season.
