Chandon Vintage Brut 750ml

Chandon Vintage Brut is the Australian way of life, lovingly bottled. Sourced from our Strathbogie and King Valley vineyards, the Chardonnay grapes highlight the lime and green apple aromas, while the Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes bring home the pomegranate and pink grapefruit. The spritely freshness and white flower aromas are all thanks to the use of slightly younger yeast. On the palate, lime and green apple notes make a reappearance, while hazelnut praline, biscuit and fresh dough give it a bit of extra body.

What does Brut mean in Chandon Vintage Brut?

The term “Brut” in the Chandon Vintage Brut refers to the level of residual sugar (or sweetness) in the wine. “Brut” is a classification for sparkling wines and means that the wine contains very little residual sugar, typically less than 12 grams per litre. The classification “Brut” is one of the driest styles of sparkling wine, and it is characterized by its crisp, refreshing acidity and a clean, dry finish.

Wines that are labelled as Brut are typically made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, and they are fermented using the traditional method, which involves secondary fermentation in the bottle. This method results in a wine that is full of bubbles and has a crisp, refreshing character that makes it perfect for celebrations and special occasions.

So, in short, the term “Brut” in the Chandon Vintage Brut indicates that this sparkling wine is a dry style of wine, with a low level of residual sugar and a crisp, refreshing acidity.

At what temperature should the Chandon Vintage Brut be served?

The Chandon Vintage Brut sparkling wine is best served at a temperature of around 45°F to 50°F (7°C to 10°C). Serving sparkling wines too warm will dull the flavours and mask the acidity, while serving them too cold will mask the aromas and flavours.

To achieve the best temperature, it is recommended to chill the wine in the refrigerator for about 2 hours prior to serving. If you are serving a large number of guests, it is best to have an ice bucket or cooler on hand to keep the wine at the optimal temperature.

In general, the Chandon Vintage Brut is best enjoyed as a refreshing, crisp, and sparkling wine that is meant to be sipped and savoured. So, serve it at the correct temperature and enjoy it with good company!
