Gin

Gin originated in the Netherlands in the early 17th century, and its popularity soon spread to England. The English version of gin became known as “London dry gin,” and it remains the most consumed type of gin today. Gin is typically made from a grain base, such as barley or wheat. Once the grain has been fermented, it is distilled and then infused with juniper berries and other botanicals. Gin is often enjoyed on its own or in mixed drinks, such as martinis or gin and tonics. Thanks to its relatively neutral flavour, gin is a versatile spirit that can be used in a wide variety of cocktails.
