McGuigan

A Century of Exceptional Flavour at McGuigan Wines

McGuigan Wines is almost as old as the wine region it hails from — the historic Hunter Valley. You probably know about McGuigan’s consistent quality and wide selection. For more than 100 years, they’ve been turning out tasty bottles. So, we’re not surprised McGuigan Wines has won numerous awards. They won White Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge four times. And it’s not just the critics who adore this wine. McGuigan’s Black Label Red is Australia’s most popular red wine. These days, they even offer non-alcoholic wines. Elle Australia featured McGuigan Zero Rosé in its list of drinks for Dry July.

Red Wines for Everyday

For a classic glass of red wine, we recommend McGuigan’s Black Label range. The Black Label Red is fruit-forward with a hint of spice. Black Label Cabernet Merlot is, you guessed it, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It’s full of rich flavour, with dark berries and summer plums. For a softer red wine, we enjoy the velvety Black Label Merlot, which tastes of raspberry, plum, and cherry. The elegant Black Label Malbec serves spiced fruit, chocolate, and plum. We always expect a great shiraz, and they have that too. The Black Label Shiraz has flavours of ripe fruit, with a structure that’s great with barbecued meats. And you can also add bubbles with the Black Label Sparkling Shiraz.

White Wines for Any Occasion

Looking for white wine? Well, Black Label delivers there as well. Black Label Chardonnay is like tropical fruit with buttered toast. There’s also a refreshing Pinot Grigio with pear and apple notes and a clean citrus finish. The Sauvignon Blanc is brimming with passionfruit and peach, and pairs well with fish or chicken. And if you like that, you should also try the aromatic Black Label Verdelho. It combines tropical fruit and crisp acidity. Got a sweet tooth? The zesty Black Label Riesling has a sweet flavour that’s perfect with a light salad. Finally, the Black Label Chardonnay Pinot Noir blends two classic wines with lively bubbles.

Unique and Complex Handcrafted Wines

McGuigan also offers handcrafted single batch wines. We like the citrus, peach, and oak of the McGuigan Single Batch Chardonnay with creamy pasta or grilled fish. Then there’s the Single Batch Rosé, with intense strawberry flavour and a touch of citrus. The silky Single Batch Shiraz tastes like ripe cherries and blackberries, with a twist of mocha and a savoury finish. We also enjoy the blackcurrant and berry flavours of the Single Batch Cabernet Sauvignon. The crisp Single Batch Brut Cuveé is a vibrant sparkling wine with stone fruit and citrus. Serving salmon or roast meat? We’d pair it with McGuigan Single Batch Pinot Noir. And the delightful Single Batch Pinot Grigio tastes like tropical fruit with a crisp finish.

Non-Alcoholic Options

As we have jumped aboard the Dry July train, McGuigan has perfected the art of making zero-alcohol wines. And it shows. They’re even included in Good Food’s review of Dry July wines. The Zero line of alcohol-free wines includes Shiraz, Sparkling Brut, Rosé, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. These new creations remind us of McGuigan’s impressive history as wine innovators. In fact, they have even been called Australian Winery of the Year!
